In the heart of the forest stands a tall black birch tree, its slender trunk reaching skyward with majestic poise. Adorned with silver-gray bark that peels away in delicate layers, it casts a striking silhouette against the backdrop of the woodland landscape.
Maplewood Ridge runs parallel to Mountainview Meadow and contains the most diverse mix of tree species in the entire forest. Some of the largest and oldest sugar maples can be found here.
As you walk deeper into the forest, the terrain becomes more rugged and rises up from the meadow on a gentle slope, evoking a feeling of being deep in the woods.
An easy five minute walk from the Welcome House, Maplewood Ridge is the most conveniently located section of the forest.
We invite you to enjoy a personalized forest tour hosted by our Forest Guides. Bring your friends & family, meet your tree and our team, and experience the beauty of the forest you are helping to protect.
We are opening for visits by appointment on March 4th and we look forward to hosting you soon.
