First, choose a section of the forest that speaks to you.
Maplewood Ridge runs parallel to Mountainview Meadow and contains the most diverse mix of tree species in the entire forest. Some of the largest and oldest sugar maples can be found here.
As you walk deeper into the forest, the terrain becomes more rugged and rises up from the meadow on a gentle slope, evoking a feeling of being deep in the woods.
An easy five minute walk from the Welcome House, Maplewood Ridge is the most conveniently located section of the forest.
An immersive wilderness experience, Blueberry Wilds is reachable through an easy hike down a wooded path, where mountain laurel thickets and a diverse swath of trees create a dense forest canopy.
Wildlife abounds in this area of the forest. Wild turkey, squirrels, chipmunks and songbirds can all be spotted in this section.
Mystic Glen has a true “heart of the forest” feel, where quiet surroundings amplify the sounds of nature. Deep in the forest, this section offers a sense of privacy yet is still easily accessible.
In spring and summer, the lush canopy overhead provides ample shade, evoking a secluded and tranquil feel.
Generously spaced trees make room for mossy boulders to dot the understory, adding a sense of mystery to this section of the forest.
