The bark on this Monument Red Oak is almost playful as it wiggles up the trunk, with curves and wrinkles giving this tree such personality. It's right on the trail, making it so easy to visit, and offers views of the lake just down the hill.
All of the trees in Shoreline Vista enjoy lakefront views. Some pepper the banks of Fish Lake and others climb a gentle slope towards the rest of the forest, providing a unique vantage point from the ledge above.
Most trees in this section are accessible from a wide trail along the ridge. Others can be reached by a path at lake level. In warmer months, a pair of common loons has been frequently spotted in the lake, along with the occasional swan or bald eagle overhead.
We invite you to enjoy a personalized forest tour hosted by our Forest Guides. Bring your friends & family, meet your tree and our team, and experience the beauty of the forest you are helping to protect.
