From the sweet fruit that nourishes birds and mammals to the sheltered branches that offer refuge to nesting songbirds, its presence enriches the diversity of life within the forest.
This is the most conveniently located section of the forest, with easy access to the Welcome Area and parking.
Natural clearings create space for sunlight to filter through generously spaced trees. The ground is level, other than a few rolling hills. The lush grass understory creates a park-like feel, making this section a customer favorite for leisurely walks and picnics.
Deer paths meander through this section, amid some of the largest trees in the forest.
The southern edge runs parallel with the main road and can be seen by passersby. The trees here greet visitors as they enter the property and act as a natural barrier, protecting the rest of the forest from road noise.
