Standing proudly amidst a sea of fellow aspens and lush ferns this towering tree offers a majestic presence in the forest where playful chipmunks are often seen frolicking in the surrounding foliage.
The most conveniently located section of the forest, Homestead Grove is a short, easy walk from the Welcome House and parking area.
Soft thickets of bracken fern carpet the forest floor. The lush understory in this area of the forest is a rare find in Arizona, as it only grows at higher elevations where summers are cool and moist.
This section has a true “heart of the forest” feel, where quiet surroundings amplify the sounds of nature. Homestead Grove feels deep in the woods yet is still easily accessible.
